Beginning his career as a driller for Controlled Blasting in 1978, Larry Gilmore has literally worked his way up from the bottom to become a leader in the industry. Larry has built a reputation for doing things right and helping his clients out of difficult situations. Through years of experience, Larry has become an expert in the field of Drilling & Blasting. Larry has worked on over 1000 different construction blasting projects and quarries, in his 32 year career at CBI. Larry Gilmore is a graduate of Ashland Business College. Larry was named Vice President of CBI in 1990, and then President in 1999. In 2007 Gilmore was nominated as the president of the International Society of Explosives Engineers, for a two year term. He also serves as the Chairman of the Georgia Blasting Safety Advisory Committee under the Georgia Insurance Commissioners Office. Over the years he has served on the ISEE Board of Directors, President of the ISEE Georgia chapter, and member of the ISEE since 1990. Larry is a recognized professional being called on a regular basis to appear in court, public hearings, and public relations meetings as an expert witness to advise on blasting litigation.
Ryan Gilmore has been in the drilling & blasting industry for over ten years. He has been responsible for numerous projects on the East Coast including Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina. In 2009, Gilmore joined the sales and operations team at CBI. His ability to talk to the customer has made him a valuable asset to CBI. Ryan is also a certified MSHA Instructor for Part 48 Mining Safety, where he does in house training as well as outside companies who need compliance courses in blasting safety. He is a member of the ISEE since 2002 and has since authored and presented a paper for the annual ISEE conference. He has been involved extensively on projects involving close proximity construction blasting, utility projects operated in densely populated areas, airport and heavy highway expansion, & large high rise building foundations. He has knowledge in shallow tunneling, mining & quarry operations, and concrete structure demolition. Throughout his career, Ryan has been involved in a variety of drilling & blasting projects, including CDC 23, Atlanta, GA, Harrahs Cherokee Casino, Cherokee, NC, & I-85 @ 14th Street, Atlanta, GA. Ryan’s technical abilities keep him on the forefront of the effort to employ new technologies to better address the age old problems associated with the drilling and blasting industry. Darren Himmelbaum is a 1997 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Himmelbaum is the current sales/operations manager with CBI. In February 1998 Mr. Himmelbaum was employed with Controlled Blasting, Inc. Darren has been involved with over 1000 projects with CBI wheather it be drilling, blasting, or managing the project. He has specific experience in the subjects of drilling & blasting, blasting vibration, blast design, vibration monitoring. Mr. Himmelbaum has been a member of the International Society of Explosives Engineers (I.S.E.E.) since 1998. He is an authorized instructor for the I.S.E.E. Level 1 Blasting Certificate program.
